MAINTAIN COMFORTABLE AIR AT SCHOOLS WITH THE HAIKU UV-C TECHNOLOGY FAN2
Investing in air purification is the most effective action facilities’ staff, superintendents and principals can do to support getting back to normal.
Cleaning the air traveling through your HVAC is a good first step, however this does not effectively address air being shared inside each room between students and staff. Instead, look for solutions that rapidly turn over the total air volume inside each room like the Haiku UV-C Fan2.
What's the Haiku Fan?
Handcrafted with premium materials and engineered with cutting-edge smart technology, Haiku represents the pinnacle of style and innovation in ceiling fans. More than 75 international awards attest to its quality, while its world-leading efficiency makes it the perfect choice for energy-conscious schools and classrooms.
Haiku is now part of Clean Air System, which combines maximum airflow with proven technology. Using ultraviolet (UV-C) technology2, Haiku UV-C removes airborne pathogens4, delivering more comfortable air directly where people work, recreate, and breathe.
How Haiku UV-C works
UV light has been a scientifically proven technology for over 70 years. By incorporating UVGI (UV-C) technology with our fans, we are able to move pathogens4 through the upper-room – continuously returning the air where it’s needed most – to the people below.
- Equipped with proven UVGI (UV-C) technology
- Creates more comfortable conditions
- Diameter options of 52, 60, and 84 in.
- Variety of finish options, controls, and more
- UV-C technology is retrofittable
"At least half of the value of education is being around other people, interacting with them, being on campus. So rolling out large overhead fans...or Haiku UV-C fans used in classrooms and football locker rooms, is really about getting us back to the way school should be—a social affair.”
– Eric Evans, CFO at Big Ass Fans
Keep classrooms, offices, & schools safe with Haiku
Classrooms, recreation centers, libraries and cafeterias are designed to house more students and operate more intelligently than ever before, often hosting a variety of activities. Not only does Haiku offer advanced disinfection protection, it also offers silent air circulation, allowing students to actually hear themselves think. Plus, increased air movement helps cool classrooms in warmer months, and improve the movement of heated air in cooler months.
Federal funding for schools & universities
CARES Act for Emergency Education Funding
In March 2020 Congress passed the CARES Act to provide approximately $31 billion in emergency education funding to students, schools, institutions and states across the country. Congress also set aside approximately $13.2 billion of the $31 billion for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER Fund).
ESSER Funding for Cleaning Facilities
The CARES Act outlines twelve allowable uses for the $13.2 billion in the package’s K-12 relief fund, providing Local Education Agencies (LEAs) substantial flexibility in determining how best to use their funds.
Schools that may have been previously unable to budget for the commercial cleaning and disinfecting equipment they wanted now have the opportunity to make those investments to aid in combating the spread of infectious disease.
School districts will need to prioritize the use of ESSER funds to accommodate both immediate and longer-term needs, making sure that not only are specific expenditures allowed, but also to maximize the return on investment.
For schools that select to allocate funding towards purchasing supplies to clean and sanitize their facilities, procuring the right cleaning tools can ensure the safety of property, staff and students, as part of near-term reopening plans and future strategies to combat the spread of all infectious diseases.
EANS Funding 1.0 / EANS Funding 2.0
With the passage of the American Rescue Plan, Congress and President Biden implemented a second round of federal funding specifically to help private schools address the impact of COVID-19. Non-public schools have this once in a lifetime opportunity to use school funding to provide their teachers and students with COVID-19 and emerging pathogen fighting products like Haiku fans with UV-C.
To take advantage of this private school funding, private schools will be asked to complete the state’s EANS Intent to Participate Form to provide the state with basic information about the school. This includes the percentage of students it serves that live in poverty, how COVID-19 has impacted the school, how the school plans to use the EANS funds to address the impact of COVID-19, etc. Once the state determines its funding priorities, it will notify the school of its EANS allocation and compliance process.
